EnglishThe paper presents the idea of “duo of artefacts”, constituted by the pascaline (i.e., the arithmetical machine Zero+1) and its digital version e-pascaline. This “duo of artefacts” is proposed here to support student’s learning about the position notation in base ten at primary school. It also represents an example in which the development in technology (Cabri Elem environment) allows the relationships between material and virtual manipulatives to be discussed.
