Performare il canone. Sopravvivenza dei classici fra riscritture e booktoker.

The paper examines the survival of classical texts in contemporary culture through practices of rewriting and digital circulation, challenging a stable and univocal conception of the literary canon. The canon is thus understood as a dynamic and negotiated construct, increasingly shaped by new actors and interpretive communities. From this perspective, rewritings of classical texts emerge as privileged mediating devices between tradition and the present, capable of reactivating canonical works within extra-academic contexts of reception and contributing to their re-canonization. Particular attention is devoted to the role of social reading platforms and book influencers, whose performative and participatory practices impact the promotion, reinterpretation, and legitimation of literary works, thereby reshaping the hierarchies of the literary field. The case of Madeline Miller highlights how such dynamics can transform readership, modes of reception, and cultural value, revealing the interplay between publishing logics, market forces, and digital culture.

Il contributo esamina la sopravvivenza dei classici nella contemporaneità attraverso le pratiche di riscrittura e le dinamiche di circolazione digitale, mettendo in discussione una concezione stabile e univoca del canone letterario. Quest’ultimo è interpretato come una costruzione dinamica e negoziata, sempre più influenzata da nuovi attori e comunità interpretanti. In tale prospettiva, le riscritture dei classici si configurano come dispositivi privilegiati di mediazione tra tradizione e presente, capaci di riattivare i testi canonici in contesti di fruizione extra-accademici e di contribuire alla loro ricanonizzazione. Particolare attenzione è rivolta al ruolo delle piattaforme di social reading e dei book influencer, le cui pratiche performative e partecipative incidono sulla promozione, reinterpretazione e legittimazione delle opere, ridefinendo le gerarchie del campo letterario. Il caso di Madeline Miller evidenzia come tali dinamiche possano trasformare destinatari, modalità di lettura e valore culturale dei testi, mostrando l’intreccio tra logiche editoriali, mercato e cultura digitale.
