This study aims to report exploratory research on teaching pract ices centered on peer collaboration and, in particular, on the materials available to primary and secondary school teachers. The practices of some schools in Emilia-Romagna were observed in order to grasp the type of collaborative strategy implemented, the main strengths and difficulties encountered by teachers. A number of resources available to support teachers' daily work, including textbooks and teacher manuals, were also examined in order to see to what extent ready-made materials are available to teachers. An evident shortage of explicit worksheets suitable for workshop and collaborative practices was noted. Some reflections and hypotheses for future research are presented.
