The aim of this article is to describe the syntactic behavior of the German particle nicht in the context of sentence negation. As known from the didactics of GFL, the negation of propositions with a more complex syntactic midfield is difficult to cope with. The positioning of nicht causes difficulties even for advanced learners, since the rule of its tending to the end of the proposition turns out to be inappropriate, as the negation particle must give way not only to the elements of the sentence bracket, but also to other constituents, even if these cannot be regarded directly as part of the right bracket. So, the question arises whether and how such a positional variance can be conveyed in a comprehensible and simple way, because, despite his complexity, the descrip-tion of this phenomenon cannot be confined exclusively to a higher level of language acquisi-tion, as from the very beginning there is a need for learners to express themselves not only in agreement but also in rejection.
