Our clinical work so far leads us to suggest that there is a strict rapport between headache and the inability to break away from primary family relationshis (or the impossibility of doing so). Fear of change could be a common stress-generating event for all the members of a family group. The symptom represents a possible collective response, the pain enhancing the closeness of a family group, rendering any distancing from the family difficult.
