We investigated the presence of Calbindin D28k a calcium-binding protein in the deep sea eel Synaphobranchus kaupii (Osteichthyes, Anguilliformes). We have found strong immunoreactivity in the dendrites and axons of neurons located in the diencephalon especially in the habenular nuclei.
