□Hypertension is a disease affecting more and more people. This aim of this paper is to describe the main features of hypertension and to classify the different degrees of this disease, following the indications provided by the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC 7) and, above all, to provide a standard protocol for the management of patients with hypertension needing oral surgical procedures.
