The article rehearses the state of the art in comparative international theorising in CIGAR, including a similar theory in public management and theorising that has drawn from the longer-standing work in business accounting. While doing this, the authors highlight the importance that networking has played. The final section discusses the value of the most common form of comparative work, namely country studies.
