Analyse of two adaptations or intersemiotic translations from the novel "Lolita" by Nabokov: Kubrick's film and Lyne's film. The author proposes a semiotic methodology of comparative analyses. The intersection between the two textual systems can produce different “equivalence strategies,” if we think of a tension between the two poles of similarity and difference, complicated by the possible choices among textual levels and among the forms and substances of expression and content.

Abstract

Analyse of two adaptations or intersemiotic translations from the novel "Lolita" by Nabokov: Kubrick's film and Lyne's film. The author proposes a semiotic methodology of comparative analyses. The intersection between the two textual systems can produce different “equivalence strategies,” if we think of a tension between the two poles of similarity and difference, complicated by the possible choices among textual levels and among the forms and substances of expression and content.
