The paper first introduces the main geological and geomorphological features of the Italian Dolomites which make the region a geoheritage high-altitude field “laboratory” and an outstanding example of geodiversity. Then landslides, which represent a topical aspect of the complex Lateglacial and Holocene geomorphological evolution of the region, are described with special emphasis on their temporal distrubution and type. Finally, it is shown how the widespread presence of landslides through time and space has contributed to the geodiversity of the region, enhancing also its geoheritage value.

Abstract
The paper first introduces the main geological and geomorphological features of the Italian Dolomites which make the region a geoheritage high-altitude field “laboratory” and an outstanding example of geodiversity. Then landslides, which represent a topical aspect of the complex Lateglacial and Holocene geomorphological evolution of the region, are described with special emphasis on their temporal distrubution and type. Finally, it is shown how the widespread presence of landslides through time and space has contributed to the geodiversity of the region, enhancing also its geoheritage value.Pubblicazioni consigliate
