The extreme fragmentation of the history and the systems of relationships between State and Churches in the various Helvetic cantons, together with the taking establishment of the tradition - that plays a determining role in orienting the principles of the cantonal legislator who is about to update the normative (sub)system of the ecclesiastical law – involves a situation characterized by an extreme complexity in defining the common elements of the Swiss legislations in matter of relations between States and confessions.
