We study the relations between group structures associated to edge-coloured graphs described, in previous papers, by A. Donati and A. Vince. A method for directly obtaining a presentation of the fundamental group of a closed 3-manifold from the associated edge-coloured graph is extended to the case of bordered 3-manifolds.
