The contribution of women in Italian archaeology is reviewed on the basis of two series of data. Forst, the role of women in Archeology, and prehistory in particular, is considered within the perspective of an averall analysis of the academic and graduate bodies in Italian universities. Second, women's contribution to the body of the published work in prehistoric archeaology is analyzed.
