This article presents research carried out in Modena on the use of synthetic drugs in youth groups, seen as communicative systems based on a combination of interpersonal communication and fun (group frequentation). The research reveals that knowledge of the effects and the risks of synthetic drugs is widespread; their use is limited and occasional, and involves mainly young male non-students.
