Given an (m+1)-coloured graph G' and an (n+1)-coloured graph G", representig two polyhedra P' and P" respectively, we present a direct constuction of an (m+n+1)-coloured graph G"', which represents the product P'x P". Some examples, applications, lower and upper bounds and conjectures abour the genus of product manifolds are also presented.
