The effect of water supply on assimilation and transpiration rates at leaf level was investigated during summer 1991 on six-year old peach trees grafted on P.S. B2 rootstock. Two water volume, corresponding to 50 an 88% of class A evaporation were applied. Water supply determined a greater WUE with respect to the unirrigated control. The occurrence of a mechanism of 'down regulation' of assimilation, due to non-stomatic limitations, is suggested.

Abstract
The effect of water supply on assimilation and transpiration rates at leaf level was investigated during summer 1991 on six-year old peach trees grafted on P.S. B2 rootstock. Two water volume, corresponding to 50 an 88% of class A evaporation were applied. Water supply determined a greater WUE with respect to the unirrigated control. The occurrence of a mechanism of 'down regulation' of assimilation, due to non-stomatic limitations, is suggested.Pubblicazioni consigliate
