Abstract

A novel soft-in soft-out detector for space-time block coded OFDM systems operating over multipath fading channels is derived using the Bayesian expectation-maximization (BEM) technique. It exploits statistical information about the communication channel and can he easily incorporated in iterative receivers when outer coding is adopted at the transmitter. Numerical results evidence the efficacy of the proposed algorithm, even in the presence of significant channel variations.
