International Law; Armed Conflict; Peace-keeping; Peace-building
The book grew out of three workshops on international law and the use of force. The first was held in Rome in 1999 soon after NATO's intervention in Kosovo; the second in Frankfurt after the US-led invasion of Afghanistan; the third in Columbus, Ohio, after the US-led invasion of Iraq. The book discusses the new and challenging questions for the international law and policy on the regulation of armed conflict that were raised by these uses of armed force. The Authors come mostly from foreign academic and research institutions (such as JW Goethe University, Frankfurt-Main, Indiana University, University of Tel Aviv, the London School of Economics, the University of Cambridge (UK) the University of Tuebingen, the University of Frankfurt-Oder, Ohio State University).
