The trans-[(alkyloxycarbonyl)methyl]tricarbonyl(triphenylphosphane)cobalt complexes [ROC(O)CH2]Co(CO)(3)PPh3 (R = Me, nPr, iPr, tBu, and cHex) have been prepared and characterized by IR, H-1, C-13, and P-31 NMR spectroscopy. Crystal and molecular structure determination by X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the following phases: P1 (R = Me), P2(1)/n (R = nPr), P1 (R = Pr), P2(1)/c (R = tBu), P1 and P21/c (R = cHex). The results show concerted development of chiral conformations (both enantiomers) in all cases.

Abstract
