Abstract
High pole count machines offer high torque density, making them suitable for various industrial applications. Closed-loop field-oriented control is commonly used to maximize the efficiency and dynamic performance of sensored drives. Furthermore, flux weakening can extend the operational speed range, leveraging the lower short-circuit current characteristic of these motors (that is lower than the nominal one), although this feature is often underutilized. This work introduces a new deadbeat current control method designed to overcome the limitations of modulated model predictive control. The approach enhances robustness against electrical parameter errors and dead-time effects. Simulation and experimental results are presented from a low-power hybrid stepper motor with a high number of rotor teeth, showcasing the benefits of the proposed control in terms of extended speed range and improved (Formula presented.) current tracking.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
