The study is focused on the understanding of the nonlinear effects of friction on clutch judder, a self-excited instability affecting automotive drivelines featuring friction elements. A comprehensive multibody model of the entire driveline has been developed using symbolic algebra software, suitable to perform perturbation analysis on steady-state, stationary solutions (manifolds) governed by nonlinear friction characteristics. This allows direct comparison with experimental data.

Abstract
The study is focused on the understanding of the nonlinear effects of friction on clutch judder, a self-excited instability affecting automotive drivelines featuring friction elements. A comprehensive multibody model of the entire driveline has been developed using symbolic algebra software, suitable to perform perturbation analysis on steady-state, stationary solutions (manifolds) governed by nonlinear friction characteristics. This allows direct comparison with experimental data.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
