This Special Issue stems from an international conference focused on this unique context, where volcanic preservation allows unprecedented study of Roman resource management. The contributions showcase cutting-edge methodologies: study of an archaeobotanical collection dating from the 18th to the 20th century, analyses of palynological and carpological material for reconstructing agrarian landscapes, and anthracology and dendrochronology studies for analyzing forest biodiversity and timber trade. Collectively, they once again demonstrate how multidisciplinary approaches can extract nuanced socioeconomic and ecological data from plant remains.

Abstract
This Special Issue stems from an international conference focused on this unique context, where volcanic preservation allows unprecedented study of Roman resource management. The contributions showcase cutting-edge methodologies: study of an archaeobotanical collection dating from the 18th to the 20th century, analyses of palynological and carpological material for reconstructing agrarian landscapes, and anthracology and dendrochronology studies for analyzing forest biodiversity and timber trade. Collectively, they once again demonstrate how multidisciplinary approaches can extract nuanced socioeconomic and ecological data from plant remains.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
