This essay describes the structure and operations of the two offices that sought to assist prisoners of war and others during World War I: the International Agency for Prisoners of War of the International Committee for the Red Cross and the Provisional Office for Information on Prisoners of War in the Vatican. the scopo of this comarison is to analyse the similarities and differences in their activity, their structures and their possibilities for action, shedding light on the dynamics that brought them into a limited collaboration during the conflict.
