Abstract

The war between Russia and Ukraine, started in 2022, has caused an economic and humanitarian crisis, with severe consequences in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The European Union (EU), as a supranational political and economic union, with the aims—among others—of contributing to peace and security, solidarity and mutual respect among peoples, protection of human rights and strict observance of international law, is expected by its member states to play an influential role, supporting Ukrainian resilience. This article examines the financial support given by the EU to Ukraine from the start of the war in 2022 up to September 2024. The article is based on data and information officially reported on EU websites and on publicly-available reports.
