Fare storia di un desiderio per un approccio critico all’ecumenismo

The historiography concerning the Ecumenical movement can be divided into three areas: the first area is dedicated to the study of Ecumenism itself; the second one is marked by the effort to focus on the pioneers of Ecumenism with a more critical approach; the third one is defined by an erudite extrinsicism. A new quest on the history of Ecumenism, aimed at grasping the desire for Christian unity (and the Christian desire for unity) as an historical fact, is therefore needed and possible. This essay explains how this epistemological postulate can be fruitful.
