The integral abutment bridge (IAB) is a jointless bridge with a rigid connection between the superstructure and abutment. The thermal induced expansion and contraction of the superstructure in IABs are constrained by the substructure and backfill. Due to different soil conditions, temperature variations, and construction technologies in different countries, there is no unified design standard for IABs. An IAB with continuous prestressed concrete (PC) T-girders was selected as a case study. A finite element model (FEM) was implemented in Midas/Civil. The accuracy of the FEM was verified by static and dynamic load test results. Based on the verified FEM, the performance of the IAB with standard continuous PC T-girders (30 m) in China was analyzed. It was found that the performance of the IAB with standard continuous PC T-girder (30 m) meets the requirements of the latest Chinese specifications by increasing the number of steel strands in existing prestressed tendons and adding additional prestressed tendons. A modified standard continuous PC T-girder (30 m) for IABs according to the latest Chinese specifications was proposed, which can promote the application of IAB in China.
