In the first part of these reflections we will focus on two forms of representation of death in cinema and television series, contrasting violent death with death by illness (specifically by acute radiation syndrome). In the second part, we will take up these configurations to link them to serial narrative forms in order to dwell on the form of the suspended ending of the tv series Chernobyl (HBO - Sky, 2019) and the intermedial expansion of its long closing sequence. In Chernobyl, if the end of the fictional story is suspended, because in fact it is already known thanks to the flash-forward of the first episode, the end of the miniseries, cuts a very marked and delimited space in itself. The long documentary sequence is an intermedial expansion, creating a second ending. It is a meta-cinematic and meta-discursive sequence: a discursive mechanism of folding and doubling of enunciation, reflecting on the story just concluded.

Abstract
It is a meta-cinematic and meta-discursive sequence: a discursive mechanism of folding and doubling of enunciation, reflecting on the story just concluded.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
