This contribution reports on main palynological and carpological analyses in Emilian sites providing evidence of food plants (cultivated or harvested in the wild) used during the Bronze Age. Starting from BRAIN, a database including archaeobotanical data from Italian archaeological sites and human-influenced off-sites located in Italy and some circum-Mediterranean countries, it was possible to detect 27 Emilian Bronze Age sites studied for archaeobotany. The picture emerging from the botanical records of these sites confirms the paramount relevance of cereals (barley, spelt and naked wheats) in human diet, but also the use of a variety of plant resources including pulses (mainly faba bean), and wild fruits for food or beverages.

Abstract
This contribution reports on main palynological and carpological analyses in Emilian sites providing evidence of food plants (cultivated or harvested in the wild) used during the Bronze Age. Starting from BRAIN, a database including archaeobotanical data from Italian archaeological sites and human-influenced off-sites located in Italy and some circum-Mediterranean countries, it was possible to detect 27 Emilian Bronze Age sites studied for archaeobotany. The picture emerging from the botanical records of these sites confirms the paramount relevance of cereals (barley, spelt and naked wheats) in human diet, but also the use of a variety of plant resources including pulses (mainly faba bean), and wild fruits for food or beverages.Pubblicazioni consigliate
