Introduction: this study focuses on the new concept of microbiome understood as the balance between bacteria in the oral cavity and how to maintain oral health during orthodontic therapy. We have tested the effectiveness of Biorepair Peribioma toothpaste as a home aid in patients with traditional, lingual and invisible orthodontics. Methods: fifty subjects were enrolled, comprising 20 fixed appliance patients, 10 lingual appliance patients and 20 invisible appliance patients. The patients were divided into two groups for each type of orthodontics, group I was given the Biorepair Peribioma toothpaste and group II was not given any indication on the toothpaste to use. Periodontal indices were assessed one and two months after the first session Results: there were improvements regarding all indices for both groups of all types of orthodontics, in particular there was statistical significance for BOP and PPD parameters in group I patients. Conclusion: during orthodontic treatment, maintenance sessions are essential for oral health. Biorepair Peribioma toothpaste can be a good ally to maintain the balance of the microbiota.
