This essay critically describes the Benefit Corporations Legislations in the USA, in Italy and in France; a brief mention is devoted to UK's Community Interest Companies and German project for a Gesellschaft mbH mit gebundenem Vermõgen. ln particular, public and private qualifications are discussed in their ambiguity, and attention is paid to the perspectives for a more reliable achievement of public benefit by companies.
