This paper outlines the way Italian case law has dealt with the insurance protection granted to workers in the context of self-inflicted injuries with the intention of suicide for work-related reasons. The analysis of case law shows the causal nexus between work and the suicidal act, which is a necessary requirement to be entitled to insurance coverage. The legal qualification of suicide is also dealt with as this can be equated to a work-related accident, a special form of occupational disease or the result of a work-related psychological disorder.

Abstract
This paper outlines the way Italian case law has dealt with the insurance protection granted to workers in the context of self-inflicted injuries with the intention of suicide for work-related reasons. The analysis of case law shows the causal nexus between work and the suicidal act, which is a necessary requirement to be entitled to insurance coverage. The legal qualification of suicide is also dealt with as this can be equated to a work-related accident, a special form of occupational disease or the result of a work-related psychological disorder.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
