E-sports (or esports: electronic sports) are constantly increasing worldwide, in terms of business and number of players and fans. In 2021 only, a turnover of over one billion euros has been reached. This work, after a brief overview of the main legal problems, aims at verifying if a specific legislation on this topic (or an amendment to the existing one) could be necessary or at least useful, without neglecting the peculiarities of e-sports.
