This chapter uses network analysis to investigate the systems of corporate interlocks of large German-style universal banks as compared to those of smaller local banks in Italy in the years 1913-36. The main result is that the latter were more common an relevant than previously believed. Mobilization of resources at the local level to prompt industrialization seems therefore to be a long-term trait of Italian capitalism.
