The work of Francisco Javier Ansuátegui Roig offers many insights to analysis and reflection. Firstly, from a methodological point of view, it shows the effectiveness of a genealogical and contextual approach on problematic and controversial issues such as freedom of expression, and how this can be useful to face old and new challenges. Secondly, it allows (within a specifically legal-philosophical perspective) to address a key issue concerning the link between freedom of expression and the material conditions of access to its effective implementation. Thirdly, it provides tools to address some dilemmas in the present, such as the relationship between freedom of expression on the web and the dissemination of hate speech.
