1848-1888: DALLA RIVOLUZIONE ALLA CELEBRAZIONE. LA FACOLTÀ GIURIDICA BOLOGNESE TRA GOVERNO PONTIFICIO E REGNO D’ITALIA

La ricerca ricostruisce i caratteri distintivi della Facoltà giuridica bolognese nei decenni a cavallo dell’Unità d’Italia con attenzione alle carriere dei docenti, alle materie incluse nei piani di studio e ai contenuti degli insegnamenti giuridici mettendo a confronto gli anni che segnano il tramonto del governo papalino con i primi decenni di funzionamento nel quadro del giovane stato unitario. Assume rilievo l’attività extra accademica di molti docenti, che partecipano attivamente alla politica nazionale ricoprendo seggi parlamentari e istituendo relazioni dirette con governi e ministri. Il caso felsineo si può inquadrare all’interno di una cronologia definita entro due estremi rilevanti: da un lato, i moti del 1848-49, seguiti da una ventata di repressione che investe anche l’ambiente universitario; dall’altro, le celebrazioni dell’VIII Centenario dell’Ateneo (1888), che diventano l’occasione, anche in chiave critica, per un primo bilancio della tradizione passata e del nuovo assetto acquisito sia dall’Università nel suo complesso che dalla specifica Facoltà di Giurisprudenza.

The research aims to explain the distinctive features of the Bolognese Faculty of Law in the decades at the turn of the Unification of Italy with attention to the careers of teachers, the matters included in the study plans and the contents of the legal teachings. The years that mark the demise of the papal government are compared in particular with the first decades of activity of the Law Faculty within the framework of the young unitary state. The extra-academic activity of many teachers, who actively participate in national politics by holding parliamentary seats and establishing direct relations with governments and ministers, is also important. The Bolognese case can be framed within a chronology limited by two relevant extremes: on the one hand, the 1848-49 Revolution, followed by a wave of repression that also affects the university environment, and on the other hand the celebrations of the VIII Centenary of the University (1888), which become the occasion, also in a critical key, for a first assessment of the past tradition and the new structure acquired both by the University as a whole and by the specific Faculty of Law.
