Breast cancer conservative surgery consists in tumour surgical excision, as the first fundamental step, completed by adjuvant or intraoperative radiotherapy, sentinel node biopsy and chemotherapy or hormonal therapy. Quadrantectomy, as stated by Veronesi, contemplates the excision of the entire quadrant of the breast mound, starting from a skin island centered on the cutaneous tumour projection, continuing with subcutaneous and adipose tissue resection, arriving to the glandular portion including muscular fascia. The resection must guarantee free margins of at least 2 cm. The conservative therapy, for neoplasies at an initial stage, allows to obtain a long term survival rate comparable to patients undergone to radical mastectomy, with less morbidity and acceptable aestethic results. Abstract
