ANTI-MECHANISM AND NEO-VITALISM Behind the contestation of mechanism lies a great variety of positions that can only be classified as “anti-mechanist” or “neovitalist” in a very summary way - and sometimes not entirely correctly. The papers presented here, far from wishing to be homogeneous or exhaustive, constitutes a good contribution to the complexity of the question, both by offering a view that covers a wide time frame, and by offering a variety of approaches and perspectives.
