Every language is already and always hybrid and multilingual. Every language is already and always in movement. In this sense and from this perspective, translation is an operation co-extensive with every language - an internal movement, a primary process - and, at the same time, a cultural, social and political act that contributes, from the outside, to designing and establishing the frontier between languages. Translation is that extraordinary device which, on the one hand, participates in the consecration of the monolingual empire and, on the other, makes visible the existence of a "zone of contact" which, beyond any monolingual narrative, opens up the plural dimension of the movement of languages, making itself the location of the construction of the common “as a project". While dealing with different histories, languages and contexts, the essays presented in this special section deviate from the cultural and political construction that assigns to translation the derivative function of "bridge", and challenge its role of passage and linguistic transference in favor of a plural, transcultural, necessarily impure and fragmentary vision of languages and the movement in and between them.
