La segmentazione degli eventi nelle narrazioni

The choice of the novel as field of investigation of this research finds motivation not only in the choice to point the focus of this study in the field of narratology, but also from the awareness that the interesting evolution of the novel in its passage from the modern phase, to the post-modern and then contemporary one, could be successfully investigated with an original interpretation, the theory of segmentation into events, to better understand its scope and effects not only on literary production but also, more generally , the changes taking place in the contemporary, complex era, allowing to shed light on those aspects that are transformed from narrative themes to structural and cultural principles of an evolving society. In the first chapter will be exposed the Theory of segmentation into events (EST), in the second will be examined, the aspects relating to perception, understanding and cognition in the third will be analyzed the interpretations, categories and perspectives of the event, in the fourth chapter it will be taking into consideration the link between the segmentation into events and the narrative, in the fifth and sixth will be carried out a reflection on the Modern, Post-modern and contemporary novel, from the point of view of the methodological framework. of literary texts by the authors Jean Rousset, Samuel Beckett, Georges Perec, David Mitchell, Haruki Murakami and the transmedia storytelling of the Marvel narrative universe. Reading the three authors helps us to fully grasp the evolution of the event’s notion in the transition from Modern to Post-modern novel, from a fixed and standardized form to a fluid and increasingly less structured element within the narrative, allowing us to identify a path perfectly parallel to the evolution of the novel itself over the last three centuries, with such a correspondence that leads us to carry out the narratological analysis of the texts taken into consideration in an extremely refined and innovative way. The analysis will focus on the crucial relationship existing, in all authors, between the narrative mode and the segmentation of the narrative in events and the representation of the event itself.

Oggetto di questa ricerca, nella chiave di lettura offerta dalla teoria sulla segmentazione in eventi, è l’analisi della modalità della segmentazione in eventi e del ruolo dell’evento stesso nel romanzo, nella sua evoluzione dalla fase moderna, a quella post-moderna e poi contemporanea, in tutte le sue forme più innovative. L’analisi si soffermerà in particolare sulle opere di Jean Rousset, Samuel Beckett, Georges Perec, David Mitchell, Haruki Murakami e sul transmedia storytelling dell’Universo Marvel; l’analisi dei testi letterari è condotta sulla base della scelta dei testi più rappresentativi degli autori citati, in particolare quelli più significativi per l’indagine sulla nozione di evento e sulla segmentazione in eventi, con un’attenzione agli aspetti cognitivi legati al ruolo della segmentazione in eventi. La scelta del romanzo come territorio di indagine di questo lavoro di ricerca trova motivazione non solo nella scelta di puntare il focus di questo studio nell’ambito della narratologia, ma anche dalla consapevolezza che l’interessante evoluzione del romanzo nel suo passaggio dalla fase moderna, a quella post-moderna e poi contemporanea, potesse essere indagata con successo e con una chiave di lettura originale, quella appunto della teoria della segmentazione in eventi, per comprenderne maggiormente la portata e gli effetti non solo sulla produzione letteraria ma anche, più in generale, i cambiamenti in atto nell’epoca contemporanea, complessa e variegata, permettendo di fare luce su quegli aspetti che si trasformano da temi narrativi a principi strutturali e culturali di un’intera società in evoluzione. Nel primo capitolo verrà esposta la Teoria della segmentazione in eventi (EST), nel secondo ne verranno esaminati gli aspetti relativi alla percezione, comprensione e cognizione, nel terzo verranno analizzate le interpretazioni, le categorie e le prospettive dell’evento, nel quarto capitolo verrà presa in considerazione il legame tra la segmentazione in eventi e la narrazione, nel quinto e nel sesto verrà effettuata una riflessione, nell’ottica del quadro metodologico teoria della segmentazione in eventi, sul romanzo Moderno, Post-moderno e contemporaneo, mediante l’analisi di testi letterari degli autori Jean Rousset, Samuel Beckett, Georges Perec, David Mitchell, Haruki Murakami e del transmedia storytelling dell’universo narrativo Marvel. La lettura dei tre autori ci permette di cogliere appieno l’ evoluzione della nozione di evento nel passaggio dal romanzo Moderno al Post-moderno, da forma fissa e standardizzata a elemento fluido e sempre meno strutturato all’interno della narrazione, permettendo di individuare un percorso perfettamente parallelo a quello dell’evoluzione del romanzo stesso nel corso degli ultimi tre secoli, con una corrispondenza tale che ci porta a effettuare l’analisi narratologica dei testi presi in considerazione in una modalità estremamente raffinata e innovativa. L’analisi si soffermerà sulla cruciale relazione esistente, in tutti gli autori, tra la modalità narrativa e la segmentazione della narrazione in eventi e la rappresentazione dell’evento stesso.
