A finite-element program taking into account the nonlinearities deriving from the behavior of the material, from large displacements and from unilateral contact, is developed. The photoelastic properties and energy function for a polyurethane rubber being determined, a comparison between numerical and experimental results is presented for simple shapes in a state of plane strain sketching seal cross sections.
