In contemporary age, by reason of the enormous technological development, the image of Prometheus endures transformations. In Günther Anders theory, the present Prometheus seems divided in himself, able to create powerful devices but unable to live up to them; unable to know them really and to feel emotions that are adequate to their effects. A “promethean gap” made man inferior in compare with technology; he loses every hybris and falls in shame. So the better image as human symbol seems the image of Epimetheus.
