A general design approach is presented, for synchronous reluctance servomotors. The choice of the rotor's structure is extensively discussed and the most suitable solution is analyzed in detail. Optimization algorithms are given, regarding minimization of the q-axis flux and maximization of torque, at given outside diameter and power dissipation capability. Expected results are discussed and compared with the state-of-the-art.
