This paper describes an example of simulation of a closed-loop controled electric drive that shows the feasibility to simulate the equipment by means of a âgeneral purposeâ electronic circuit analysis program.The SPICE program is used because of its welLKnown facility to simulate electronic circuits. This paper reports a way to extend the SPICE facilities to simulate the electromechanical energy conversion and the drive control. The simulation of a switched reluctance (SR) drive with a closed-loop speed control is considered, and the results are validated by experimental tests executed on an industrial drive. © 1991 IEEE
