The framework of the research project Ager “An Italian Vitis Database with multidisciplinary approach, for exploitation and valorization of the regional genotypes” was the protection and valorization of the regional grapevine varieties in Italy. Morphological, physiological, bio-molecular and technological traits of approximately 700 accessions belonging to about 400 varieties of Piedmont, Emilia Romagna, Liguria, Tuscany, Latium, Apulia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily were investigated by the partners of this project. The data will be reversed in the “Italian Vitis Database” (www.vitisdb.it) previously developed by the University of Pisa.
