Leo Strauss, Maimonide e la scrittura reticente. Per un’interpretazione del problema teologico-politico

Leo Strauss’ hermeneutics is related to a rational and un-traditional conception of philosophy: the reticence of the philosophical writing is a direct result of two different phenomena in the history of political societies, the persecution and the education. The hermeneutic question is therefore at the centre of the Strauss’ «theological-political problem», i.e. of the relationships between philosophy, politics and religion. These complex relationships between «vita activa» and contemplative life are analyzed from Strauss through the interpretation of the classics, in particular of Maimonides, the author more present – with Plato – in his entire intellectual biography. Maimonides so becomes the model for a rationalism aware of the dialectic tension between philosophy and politics.
