The paper focus is on how pushing SMEs towards a practice of systemic dematerialisation of business documents to pursue a dramatic reduction of energy waste, and how to promote this good practice and the underlying enabling technology at a large number of target companies. As by-product it is worth observing that a virtuous behaviour of SMEs with respect to document dematerialisation would also make the practical adoption of the EU Directive 2010/45 much faster.
