A Network of Italian University Museums for the Development of a Web Portal

After a recent seminar held at the University of Modena titled “A network of Italian University Museums for the complementarity and the sustainable management” with some other Italian University Museums, like for example Bologna, Ferrara, Parma, Napoli and Bari, we are now working to realize a network to activate synergies among competent institutions.The main objective of this network is to realize a University Museums Web portal that will be a useful tool to query and re-read scientific cultural tokens through their digital management, their accessibility to all to overcome the digital divide, to spread and promote cultural values in the light of present time and everyday life, in an authentic dialogue between cultures which is fundamental to face the strong identity and community fall back, the globalisation and the risk of uniformity that threatens contemporary world, in cooperation with the Central Institute for the Unique Catalogue and Libraries of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and with a research project that the Museums Commission of CRUI (Conference of Italian University Rectors) is now developing to create a complex qualifying platform for historic-scientific and naturalistic heritage.
