Participants were 175 Italian high-school students. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Contact with immigrants reduced social distance toward them; this relationship was mediated by anxiety and empathy toward immigrants; social dominance orientation had opposite effects. Improved attitudes toward immigrants generalized to attitudes (social distance) toward disabled and homosexuals.
