We investigate (suspected) contact phenomena in dialectal syntax by studying demon- stratives in Italiot and Asia Minor Greek. We show that exclusively DP-initial placement of demonstratives results from two possible diachronic paths, not necessarily driven by contact, with different dialects representing different stages in the respective paths.

Abstract
We investigate (suspected) contact phenomena in dialectal syntax by studying demon- stratives in Italiot and Asia Minor Greek. We show that exclusively DP-initial placement of demonstratives results from two possible diachronic paths, not necessarily driven by contact, with different dialects representing different stages in the respective paths.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
