Twelve historical Italian Universities, with their museum centers and systems, museums and collections, through a creation of a first network of Italian University Museums, take part to a national project aiming at contributing for the creation of a national museum system to enhancing cultural, historical-scientific and naturalistic heritage. The first goal of the project is monitoring the heritage of University museum network, in order to create a national database of the most significant collections using the national catalogue standards. The tool of the network is a bilingual web portal to rationalize the presence of the Italian University Museums on the web, for strengthening and standardizing the presentation of their quality contents on the web with common thematic and multidisciplinary itineraries through their most relevant collections
